More about Sex and Porn Addiction
    Sex addiction can take over your life whether it be pornography, strip
    clubs, bath houses, bookstores or any other form of anonymous sex, it
    leaves one feeling empty and alone.  It was once stated on the Oprah
    Winfrey show that there were more people suffering from sexual
    addition than alcohol or drugs.  The estimate given was 20 million sex
    addicts in the United States.  

    With the invention of the Internet came a new easy access to
    pornography.  One did not need to leave their home even to rent
    videos.  Patrick Carnes says "the Internet is to sex addiction, what
    crack cocaine has been to drugs."  People risk their relationships, jobs
    and financial security and many times there freedom to have sex with
    another or with themselves.  This is what we call unmanageable.  There
    is the obvious reason that people are addicted:  it is a way to escape.  
    The less obvious reason is people are all searching for connection,
    touch and love. Sex addiction is sometimes the only way they know
    how to do this.  

    Most addicts do not have the tools to be intimate, so they turn to a
    behavior that gets them close to this experience but never satisfies
    their desires. They repeat the behavior and obtain the same empty
    results.

    Working with sex addicts is one of my specialties. It is important to treat
    this addiction like others. I help people develop tools to become
    intimate and create a loving passionate relationship.  Recovering sex
    addicts go on to have a healthy satisfying life without the fear of
    disease, arrest or many of the other negative consequences that they
    have been living with

    Unfortunately, the Internet makes access to pornography, easy pickups
    for non-meaningful encounters, and escapes during all times of the day
    more available than at previous times.

    Helping a person develop tools to become intimate and creating a place
    for him or her to be honest and accountable for personal behavior, as
    well as making referrals to a recovery program seem to be the best
    treatment.
