My name is Randy Weled, and I have been helping people with mental health issues for 18 years. I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in San Francisco. My office is located in downtown San Francisco, in the historic Flood building.

I specialize in the in working with individuals and couples of all orientations and identities and I also specialize in supporting recovery from addictions such as: compulsive sexuality, substance abuse, and debting. With the use of individual and couples counseling, art, movement, dream and drama therapy, I help others find the answers to their problems within themselves.

I have extensive training in process-oriented psychology and counseling. I studied with Arnold Mindell, who uses this approach to deal with deep-seated conflicts, in individuals, couples, families, and in larger communities.

The main concept of process therapy work is that all parts of conflict need to have a voice, no matter how unpopular. In this way, finding a common thread and communication is possible.

Using a process-oriented therapy approach, I help clients create stable relationships through seeing life from different points of views. Investigating a client’s “personal pathology”, especially in couples counseling, reveals that no one lives in a vacuum and that others suffer similar feelings.

I also specialize in using a gentle technique called Brainspotting which helps people process through deep unconscious problems in a very safe environment

I offer clients my experience of successful outcomes with couples of all gender and ethnic affiliations. Although I am male-identified and gay, I work with many women and lesbian couples. About 50 percent of my clients are heterosexual.

My partner and I lead workshops on “Power Dynamics in Relationship.” This is a revolutionary way to look at the ways individual and cultural power can unconsciously hurt partners. The dynamics are very similar for heterosexual couples as well as queer couples, so the workshops are open to all.

I invite you to read more about my approaches on various issues in these pages . If you feel I can help, I look forward to working with you.
